What Makes me a Woman - Anna Raymo

I will never love another man as much as you I know what they sing about when they sing about being weak It is weakness brought on by the strength of the love It is what makes me a woman

Putting myself last because of the power of my compassion Whether it be for a man or any other living thing It is a shiver in my heart if I try to disobey It is what makes me a woman

There are things that are wrong with the world I want to change But something that will always remain the same is my emotional strength If I am weak because I care too much then that is my fate It is what makes me a woman

We are strong because of the weakness we accept I am not any less of a woman because I love a man

We are strong because we can look pain in the face and take its hand I am not any less of a woman because I love a man

We are strong because the roots of our girlhood are so deep I am not any less of a woman because I love a man

We are strong when we do not pretend to be a man as a way to cope with the world I am not any less of a woman because I love a man

Anna Raymo is a writer and musician living in Chicago. When she's not at home writing music or poetry, she manages a fitness center that she loves! She has been writing since she was in elementary school, but it wasn't until she was 20 and was recruited to be the lead singer/songwriter to a Chicago-based punk band that she started to really hone my craft. Since the band's disbandment, she has been making my own music under the name Annie April, and writing poetry and short stories. In the future, she'd like to be apart of a happy community the likes of Haight Ashbury in the 1960s.
